Dementia Care Specialist

The Dementia Care Specialist (DCS) provides support and information for individuals concerned about memory loss, those living with dementia, caregivers, and the broader community.

Individual Services:

  • Memory screening and referrals for diagnosis.
  • Planning, resources, and support to help individuals remain in their homes and communities.
  • “Journey Along” social outing group and “Journey Together” community-based living tips.

Support for Caregivers:

  • Education, support groups, and family meetings.
  • Programs like Powerful Tools for Caregivers and DICE to enhance communication and care strategies.
  • Resources to improve healthcare literacy and interactions with medical providers.

Community Outreach:

  • Dementia Friendly training for businesses, faith groups, schools, and service organizations.
  • Brain health programs such as Boost Your Brain & Memory and Wits Workout.
  • Free public education events listed on the ADRC website.
