[ARCHIVED] County in Need of Foster Parents

National Foster Care Month, observed in May, is an important time to raise awareness on issues related to foster care and to celebrate those who are dedicated to serving our children, youth, and families. In St. Croix County, there are over 100 youth placed in out of home care and there is a need for foster parents, respite providers, and businesses who are interested in helping support the children in our County. Every day, foster families make a difference in children's lives by providing safe and caring temporary homes.

By becoming foster parents or respite providers, you can provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Becoming a foster parent is a big decision. St. Croix County Children Services is here to answer your questions and walk you through the fostering or respite care process.

"We witness the transformative power of foster care every day. It is a lifeline for children who have experienced adversity, offering them a safe haven and stability. Foster care is not just a temporary solution; it is a profound act of love and compassion that has the power to shape a child's future. Together, as a community, we can provide these deserving children with the nurturing support they need to thrive and succeed. Foster care is not only about providing a home; it is about changing lives and building a brighter tomorrow for our most vulnerable youth.”

- Michelle Leccia – Children Services Administrator

Recently the Collins-Spring Valley Masonic Lodge #192 donated $2,830 to the St. Croix County Children Services Foster Care Program. This donation will help support the work of our foster care program while raising awareness about the need for foster parents. The donation was presented to St. Croix County Foster Care Coordinator, Ben Tomandl, at a recent dinner at the Masonic Lodge in Baldwin, WI. Ben along with foster parents Khiel and Melissa Ryberg shared information about foster care with those in attendance.
