National Public Health Week (NPHW) is April 7–13. This year’s theme is “It Starts Here: Your Health is Our Mission.” It's a reminder that the foundation of a healthier community begins with each of us, in our homes, schools, workplaces, and neighborhoods.
St. Croix County Public Health focuses on protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This work is achieved by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases, and more. You can learn more about their services on the public health section of our website.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of NPHW. It began in 1995 to raise awareness about public health's role in improving our health and lives. The American Public Health Association created this infographic to highlight some of the public health achievements over the past 30 years.
Friend of Public Health
Congratulations to Bridging Brighter Smiles, Inc., this year’s recipient of the St. Croix County Friend of Public Health Award! St. Croix County Public Health has been recognizing a Friend of Public Health since 1998 as part of celebrating National Public Health Week (NPHW). This award recognizes an exceptional community partner which positively impacts the health and well-being of St. Croix County residents. Their partnership with Public Health's WIC program helps reduce barriers and improves access to dental care for women and young children. Bridging Brighter Smiles, Inc. will be recognized at an upcoming event hosted by Public Health. We will post more information and photos of that event.
