The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of St. Croix County recently held its annual Volunteer Banquet, an event to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of our volunteers. These dedicated individuals, who range from high school students to older adults have donated nearly 14,000 hours of their time. Thanks to their time and generosity, we saved over $440,000. This dollar amount translates into a direct savings to our County taxpayers, helping us to sustain essential services and programs for the communities we serve.

There are a variety of ways that volunteers complement the services provided by the ADRC. They help with our aging programs, senior nutrition sites, and deliver meals through the Home-Delivered Meal Program. They also serve on boards, help with special events, and provide respite to those caring for loved ones with dementia.

With the help of our volunteers, we served over 50,000 meals in 2023 through congregate dining, home-delivered and carry-out meals. They enabled us to support caregivers throughout the County by providing over 1,000 hours of respite through our DayAway program and benefiting around 200 participants in our Dementia Care Journey Along Group. Additionally, our AARP tax volunteers completed 426 tax returns, an increase of over 100 returns completed in the previous year.
We were thrilled to recognize our most committed volunteers, including nine extraordinary individuals who each contributed over 300 hours in the past year. Their dedication exemplifies the spirit of community and generosity that drives our mission forward.

The city of New Richmond, our community partners, and our ADRC Aging Team members, whose behind-the-scenes efforts make events like these possible, were also acknowledged. Their support and partnership are crucial in helping us meet our goals and extend our reach across the County.
In a year marked by growth and increased volunteer engagement, we have witnessed firsthand the truth of the saying: "You are a piece of the puzzle in someone else’s life. You may never know where you fit, but someone's life may never be complete without you in it." Our volunteers truly are the pieces that complete the picture for many in the communities we serve. We are currently looking for volunteers in the Hudson and New Richmond areas to help deliver meals to homebound participants. The Home-Delivered Meal Program provides a hot, nutritious meals to those that are 60 and over who are home bound and unable to prepare meals on their own.
