Office of Corporation Counsel

The Office of Corporation Counsel provides legal advice, representation and other services to the County Board of Supervisors, committees and County departments. It provides advice and representation for all civil legal matters involving the County, including: zoning ordinance violations; child support and paternity matters; guardianship, protective placement and mental and drug commitment proceedings. It is responsible for: formation or review of ordinances, resolutions and contracts; interpretation of statutes, rules and regulations, and duties of the County Board and County officers.

The Office of Corporation Counsel represents the legal interests of St. Croix County government, but does not represent or provide legal advice to other municipalities, businesses or individuals. Child Support

The Office of Corporation Counsel provides legal representation to the St. Croix County Child Support Agency. This includes adjudication of paternity for non-marital children, establishing legal obligations for child support, and enforcement of existing child support orders.

Civil Commitments

The Office of Corporation Counsel provides legal representation to the St. Croix County Department of Health and Human Services by prosecuting Chapter 51 mental illness and drug dependency commitments for adults and minors.

Guardianship

The Office of Corporation Counsel Office provides legal representation to the St. Croix County Department of Health and Human Services in obtaining guardianship and protective placement for adult county residents in need of such services due to an incapacity based on a degenerative brain disorder, serious and persistent mental illness, developmental disability, or other like incapacities.

Termination of Parental Rights
